Do I Need to Empty My Toilet Tank Before Tightening a Leaky Bolt?

Hey everyone! I noticed that the bolt connecting my toilet tank started leaking. I know I should tighten it to fix the issue, but do I need to completely empty the tank before doing that? Any advice would be appreciated!

It might help to shut off the water and flush the toilet a few times before tightening the bolt. This way, you'll reduce the amount of water in the tank, which could save you from a big mess if you accidentally over-tighten and crack the tank. Better safe than sorry!

Exactly! Just a few flushes should do the trick. It's way easier to deal with a small spill than a full tank.
