I'm looking to replace 6 interior doors and 2 sliding closet doors in my home, excluding the frames. I received a quote for $2,800, which seems really steep to me, especially since the materials shouldn't cost more than $1,500. The doors are pretty standard—just basic white doors and a sliding mirror closet door for one of the closets. I'm unsure what a fair price should be for this kind of work since I'm not familiar with labor costs. Can anyone share their thoughts?

Did you get multiple quotes, or is the $2,800 the only one you've seen? Knowing how many estimates you've collected could help gauge if that's standard or just high. What makes you think a fair price is lower? Any past experience with similar work might help here!
The quote might be pretty fair when you factor in both labor and materials. Installing doors can be a lot of work, especially if there are adjustments needed for the frames or other issues that come up. It’s a good idea to get a few more quotes to see if this price is in the ballpark!
Thanks for the thought! I want to make sure I'm not being ripped off, but I also don’t want to be too cheap.
That amount might actually be on the cheaper side depending on where you live; location really affects labor costs. In New Jersey, for example, a job like this could easily hit the $2,500 mark just due to labor.

I’ve only had one consult so far, and I’ve never done anything like this since this is my first home. I thought the labor wouldn't be too expensive based on the cost of materials.
