What Can I Do About Squirrels Damaging My Arborvitaes?

I've been having a tough time with squirrels destroying my arborvitae privacy trees. They've made nests in them, and I've noticed the top halves of the trees are looking really bare. I even have footage proving it's the squirrels causing the damage! Is there a way to deter them or prevent further destruction? Please, let's keep it civil unlike my last post in a squirrel community.

One option is to pick up some rodent deterrent spray, like peppermint oil, from Home Depot. If that doesn’t do the trick, you can try making your own cayenne pepper spray—just mix cayenne pepper through a coffee filter and spray it on. You’ll need to reapply it weekly. Just a heads up: be careful not to spray it toward your face!

Thanks for the tips! I have peppermint oil at home, but the trees are pretty high, and the squirrels can get to them from the garage roof. Not sure if that’ll help, but I'll give it a go!
