Hey everyone! I recently became a homeowner and I have a low-maintenance yard. I'm considering getting a stick edger for my backyard, and the Quik Lok edger really caught my attention. However, I've noticed that it seems to only be available for purchase as part of a kit that includes a string trimmer, which isn't something I particularly need right now. Here are the options I'm looking at:
1. M18 FUEL 18V 16 in. Brushless Cordless Battery Powered QUIK-LOK String Trimmer 8.0 Ah FORGE Kit with Edger Attachment for $299. I'd get the string trimmer but I'm not likely to use it since I can't return or modify the kit.
2. M18 FUEL 18V 8 in. Brushless Cordless Battery Powered Straight Shaft Lawn Edger (Tool-Only) for $314. This option is more expensive, isn't compatible with the Quik Lok system for future attachments, and doesn't include a battery.
I might need a pole saw down the line, which makes the Quik Lok system appealing. I even considered just purchasing the Power Head, but it's listed at $199 on its own. Is option 1 my best bet? Is there any market for selling the string trimmer separately? Can I just buy the Quik Lok system with only the edger? Thanks for your help!

Typically, the power head isn't sold on its own. But as a new homeowner, you might find that a string trimmer can actually be super helpful. It's one of the most common lawn tools besides a mower. You might want to keep it just in case!

I did see the power head available at a couple of places, but buying it with an edge attachment alone would total over $300, and I wouldn’t have a battery. I totally get that I might find the string trimmer useful as I get more into yard work, especially once spring hits!
