Ever Had Paint Peel Off with Tape? What Should I Use Instead?

I recently used Scotch Blue 2090 painters tape on my dry, painted baseboard while I was painting my concrete floor. Unfortunately, when I peeled off the tape, it took some of the paint off the baseboard too. I've already contacted 3M and provided evidence, but they didn't offer any solutions. What kind of tape should I use next time to avoid this issue?

Definitely try removing the tape while the paint is still wet. This can help a lot! Also, I’ve found that heating the tape a bit with a hairdryer before peeling can make it easier. Frog Tape has worked better for me than the blue tape too.

Yeah, that's a common issue with Scotch Blue. I recommend switching to Frog Tape in the future. No tape is 100% problem-free, but Frog Tape tends to pull less paint. Also, remember to pull the tape off at a low angle to help minimize stress on the surface.

Good point! Just a reminder though, it was the old paint that got pulled off, not the new stuff. But I'll keep the angle tip in mind!
