Should I Grow Berries in Containers or in the Ground?

I'm trying to decide whether it's better to plant my blueberries and other berries like blackberries and raspberries in the ground or in containers. I'm especially interested in the pros and cons of each option. If I go with containers, what type and size should I choose? I'm located in Zone 6b in Southeast Michigan, and I'm considering grow bags as well. Any thoughts?

I'd personally recommend going with the ground, but I might be a bit biased! Have you thought about the soil quality? It can make a big difference in how your berries thrive.

I get that! I have blueberries too, and I plan to plant them near my front walkway like a natural hedge. It is easier to manage soil conditions in containers, though. I have some blueberries that are already a couple of years old, and I'm trying out new varieties. Just keep in mind that blackberries and raspberries can spread, so consider your planting space carefully. You might need to manage their growth if they take off!
