Looking to Build a Portable Universal Charging Station – Need DC-DC Converter Recommendations!

Hey everyone! I'm dealing with that classic frustration of needing power while out at festivals or on camping adventures. I've got a battery from an electric motorcycle that's still in great condition, and I'm hoping to convert it into a versatile charging station. Does anyone have suggestions for a good DC-DC buck converter that can step down the voltage from 54V to around 12V, 15V, or 18V with high efficiency? What do you all think about this idea?

Honestly, I'd just go for a power bank instead. They’re super convenient and made for this exact purpose. If you’re really set on using that motorcycle battery, consider a power station that can handle up to 60V solar charging. You could even set it up with solar panels at a festival for a continuous charge. Plus, you could tweak the battery pack to a lower voltage and use automotive or RV power outlets, which usually come with USB PD options.

You might want to look into a buck converter that drops the voltage to something compatible with USB-C outlets. That way, you can use PD trigger modules for different voltages or even run USB-C devices directly. Just keep in mind that most laptops don’t charge via USB-C, so it might not be as useful for powered gear like DJ equipment. But hey, if you’re into building epic battery banks, this could be your next project!
