Just Accepted a Quote for a Masonry Project – What Should I Expect Next?

I recently accepted a quote for a large masonry project in my backyard, and I'm a bit unsure about what comes next in the process. My intuition tells me I should receive a contract to review, but I haven't gotten one yet. I'm wondering what I should look for in this contract and what information it usually includes. Any advice on best practices would be greatly appreciated!

Totally agree! The bigger the project, the more you should have in writing. I usually get a little more laid-back on smaller jobs, but for anything significant, I’d want to see everything detailed out in the contract, like materials to be used and change procedures. Make sure everything is clear to avoid any surprises later.

Once you accept a quote, it's pretty standard for the contractor to send you a contract. For big jobs like masonry, you definitely want to see the details outlined. Make sure there are milestone payments instead of paying everything upfront. Verify that the contractor has the right licenses and insurance. Also, be clear about who will handle permits and whether those costs are included in the bid. It's a good idea to have a termination clause if they're not sticking to the agreed timeline.
