Dealing with Mold Around My Bathroom Skylight – Is $1100 a Fair Price?

I've noticed mold starting to grow around my bathroom skylight, which measures about 15x15 inches and has a metal frame inside. I'm currently getting quotes for cleaning it up and one quote I received is $1100 (or $900 if I pay cash). I live in the Los Angeles area and I'm wondering if this is a reasonable price. Also, any additional advice on how to handle this situation would be great! Just a heads up, we tried cleaning it ourselves about eight months ago, but it came back quickly. We do have a bathroom fan, but no windows. Thanks in advance for your help!

You mentioned you tried cleaning it before, but what products did you use? If you didn't go with bleach last time, I'd definitely recommend that. I've had success with bleach for mold removal as it typically gets the job done well. Just a heads up, mold abatement can be pretty pricey in California because of regulations, so the quote you received might be in the ballpark, sadly!

Thanks for the advice! We actually used bleach and vinegar initially but it seems like we might not have cleaned it thoroughly enough since it came back. I'm guessing even a tiny spore can lead to a quick regrowth.
