Why is my window cracked and is $1300 a fair price to fix it?

I recently discovered that I have a cracked window in my home and the vendor is quoting me $1300 for the replacement. The glass dimensions are 69 3/4" x 57 5/8" x 3/4" O/A CARD270/Bronze Spacer/Clear*Annealed with 3/16" thick glass. I'm wondering if this price is reasonable and what might have caused the crack in the first place?

For a window that size, $1300 might not be out of line, especially if they're replacing the whole thing. I once paid over $300 just for a basic smaller basement window. Just make sure to get multiple quotes to compare!

It looks like something hit your window, especially with that crater in the center. Could it have been kids with a slingshot or something else? Just a thought!

Yeah, kids can definitely cause that kind of damage. It's worth considering!

The price really depends on local rates and the contractor's overhead. But based on what I've seen, that price could be normal for a large window. As for the crack, it's likely due to an external impact, maybe from lawn equipment kicking up gravel or even a BB. I'd lean towards an accident unless there are signs of intentional damage.
