I'm looking to concrete my crawl space and I've heard it's important to have a vapor barrier under the concrete. I'm curious if crawl space encapsulation companies typically take care of both the vapor barrier and the concrete, or do I need to hire separate contractors for each job?

You usually can get a vapor barrier, known as encapsulation, set up on its own. But if you want to add concrete, it’s good to consider your ultimate goal for that space. Why are you thinking of pouring concrete?

My husband loves using that space for his hobbies and treats the crawl space floor like a workbench. I thought solid concrete would withstand his activities better than just a vapor barrier, which might get damaged over time. Plus, our basement is quite small, so there's no room for a workbench down there.
