I'm looking for a reliable double-sided tape to secure a router template to wood. I recently tried Spectape from Woodcraft, but it didn't perform as well as I hoped. I'm wondering if anyone has a favorite tape they can recommend for this task?

Spectape is pressure sensitive, so it might not adhere well until you apply some real pressure. A few taps with a mallet or using a face vise could help improve its grip. In my experience, it holds strong once pressed down properly, so keep some shims handy for adjustments.
For holding router templates, a lot of woodworkers really like the XFasten Heavy-Duty Double-Sided Tape. It sticks well, can handle the pressure from routing without budging, and you can remove it cleanly without leaving a sticky mess behind.
Thank you! I'll check that out.

I’ve tried pressing down with my palm and even added my full weight. It’s been hit or miss, though. Should I consider sanding the board?
