What’s the best way to handle a dryer vent that exits into my garage?

I just moved into a new house and noticed that the dryer vent dumps into the garage, which I use as my gym. It creates a mess with lint everywhere. Besides routing it through the brand new roof, what else can I do to minimize the lint situation?

First off, it's important that your dryer vents outside, especially if it's a gas model, since that needs to vent right away. Even if it's electric, venting outside helps control moisture and keeps lint from piling up. You can reroute the vent through the floor or out a wall to solve this problem effectively.

It sounds like a hassle dealing with lint in your gym space! If you're okay with some extra humidity, one option is to install a large lint-catcher that can handle the loose stuff before it spreads around. Alternatively, consider rerouting the vent out through a wall or soffit instead of the roof, which could make it easier and more efficient.
