Hey everyone! I'm pretty new to woodworking and also new to Reddit (first post here). I'm working on a project where I'm creating giant animal crackers out of wood. I've designed my pieces and plan to have them cut out using a CNC machine. However, I want the edges of these giant cookies to be rounded, like actual cookies would be. For smaller projects, I'd just file and sand the edges, but this would take forever with how large I'm making them. What would be the best approach to round those edges efficiently? Thanks for your help!

Using a roundover bit on the CNC machine is probably the easiest way to get those edges rounded. Just make sure to switch out the tool at the end, home it again, and send it through. That should do the trick!
If you're not doing the CNC cutting yourself, definitely have a detailed conversation with the operator about what you want. They'll have good insights on how to achieve those rounded edges. You might still need to do some sanding afterward to get everything just right, but they'll point you in the right direction for the machine.

Yeah, but it depends on whether you want the edges rounded on both sides. I’m not a CNC expert, but maybe it’s better to start with a roundover bit and then finish the cut to keep the piece secure. If you want both sides rounded, you could use a trim router and a roundover bit with a bearing. Just remember to file the inside corners to smooth those out!
