Do I Have Enough Solar Power for My Off-Grid Cabin?

I'm setting up an off-grid cabin and have three 12V 230Ah LiFePO4 batteries along with four 100W solar panels. I'm trying to determine if this setup is sufficient for my needs, considering I get about 4-5 hours of peak sunlight each day. Specifically, I'm looking to power lights at night, run a TV for a couple of hours, use a composting toilet fan, and vacuum occasionally.

It depends on what you're trying to power. If you only need to charge phones and run a few LEDs, then you're way overshooting! But if you want to power heavier items, like a cybertruck while welding, you'll need a lot more.

Exactly! It's all about how intensive your usage is.

You have around 6 kWh from your batteries and your panels can provide about 2 kWh per day. That's definitely not enough to keep everything running if you use too much power daily, like those heavier appliances. You might want to consider adding more solar panels to get better coverage. Plus, don't forget about upgrading your charge controller if it's only handling 500 watts input!

Good call! More panels would definitely help boost your energy input.
