I recently received an estimate for installing a mini split system in my 1983 home in Connecticut, and I was shocked to find it quoted at $24K! I was expecting it to be around $12K to $15K. The proposed system includes a Mitsubishi Ductless setup with various BTU ratings. I also learned that I need to supply an electrician for the circuit work and handle the inspections myself. Is this estimate reasonable? Shouldn't these services be included in the quote?

Honestly, your quote isn't too far off from what I've seen around here. The price can vary based on location, but needing an electrician is pretty standard. In Michigan, for example, the contractor usually pulls the permits, so it might be worth double-checking that with your installer if they're supposed to handle those steps.
