Best Way to Clamp a Hexagonal Cabinet?

Asked By user9876! On

I'm about to put together a hexagonal cabinet using panels that are 2 feet high and 8 inches wide. Once assembled, the hexagon will measure approximately 18 inches across. I currently have a couple of picture frame and strap clamps, but I'm not sure if they're sufficient for this project. I'm also considering purchasing additional clamps, but I'd like your advice on whether my idea to use the clamps I have is feasible or if it's likely to fail. Additionally, I'm curious if using ratchet straps would work, as I have plenty of those available. This will be my first time tackling a project like this, and while I believe in having enough clamps, I'd prefer to save some money if possible. I would really appreciate any suggestions or tips you might have!

Before you glue everything, do a dry fit to ensure all the pieces line up perfectly. With some glues, you have a bit of open time to adjust, but it’s best to clamp everything down securely first. A quick tip: lightly sanding the dominoes can help them fit together better!

Thanks for the tip on sanding the dominoes! I’ll definitely keep that in mind.

Definitely, ratchet straps can do the trick! They’ll give you a lot of pressure to hold the pieces together as they set. Just make sure to stagger where the ratchets sit to avoid any uneven pressure spots.
