How Can I Transition to a Career in Gardening?

I've been stuck in a decent-paying office job but I'm really feeling the urge to switch careers. Gardening has always been a passion of mine, and although I've only approached it as a hobby—picking up tips from books and shows like Monty Don's—I want to dive deeper. The problem is, living in Northern Ireland, I'm finding it hard to find suitable courses. Most are either casual leisure classes or intensive agricultural degrees, and I can't afford to quit my job for studying right now. Has anyone out there made a similar switch to gardening or another field that required full-time study? Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Transitioning into gardening is definitely doable! A lot of folks manage to establish a career through garden maintenance or part-time work. With time and a little experience, you can charge more and land better gigs. I've been in this field for 20 years, and I find it incredibly rewarding—it's fulfilling for both mind and body! Plus, you can start small while keeping your current job.

Isn't it physically demanding though?
