I'm gearing up to remodel my old kitchen and want to make sure I tackle it in the right order. I need to update everything—flooring, cabinets, appliances, you name it! Should I start with the flooring, or is it better to put in cabinets and the island first? I'd love to hear some recommendations!

If you're not changing the layout, sometimes a fresh coat of paint and some new hardware might do wonders for your existing cabinets, making them look good as new! Just something to consider!

Most folks say to clear everything out first, lay down the flooring, then add the cabinets and appliances. If you're stripping it down to the studs, you might want to think about building everything back up in layers, but flooring should be among the last steps if you're going that route.

The best approach is to start with demolition first, then take care of any electrical and plumbing work, followed by drywall installation. Next, paint the ceiling and walls. After that, you should put in the upper cabinets, then lower ones. Finally, lay down the finished flooring and install your appliances and trim. A quick tip: If you're using tile or hardwood, it’s usually a good idea to lay it under the cabinets!
