I'm considering tackling my bathroom renovation bit by bit. For starters, I'm planning to just replace the shower now and then deal with everything else, including the drywall, later on. This is a DIY project for us and we think step-by-step might be the way to go. What do you all think?

It can definitely work to do it in stages! As long as you can access all the plumbing and everything stays clean, you're pretty good to go. I pulled apart my whole bathroom and found some weird stuff underneath the floor, which I’m glad I did before replacing the tub. It gave me the chance to make some electrical updates too while everything was open. But hey, if you're nervous about learning new skills like drywalling, just tackle it one piece at a time. Maybe demo now, reinstall essentials, and then take your time with the other stuff later!
Yeah, showers are awesome, but renovating takes time! Just know it’s normal to feel overwhelmed, but break it down and don't rush yourself. You got this!
Going in stages is totally fine! I did my bathroom like that and it worked out well. I started by removing the tub and putting in a walk-in shower first. Once that was done, I enjoyed it for a bit before hiring pros for the tiles. Make sure to prepare enough before each stage and keep things functional enough to get by. Just keep in mind how much clutter you can deal with, especially if you’re doing it with someone else—different folks have different patience levels!
That's helpful to know! Just curious, did you install the shower before or after doing the walls?

Thanks! Yeah, I’m expecting to find oddities since the previous owners were not great at DIY. I'd prefer starting with the shower to avoid damaging new drywall if I replace it later. Plus, at least dealing with concrete floors should be easier, right?
