What to Do About My Leggy Tomato Seedlings?

Hey everyone! I've got a bit of a situation here. I recently planted tomato seeds, and typically, they take about a week and a half to two weeks to germinate. However, I was away for a few days, and when I returned, I found that my seedlings have grown super leggy. I didn't think I needed to add a light yet since they were just starting out. My question is, should I wait a bit longer to see if more seeds germinate before I do anything? Would it be wise to add more soil to the pots?

Hey there! It sounds like your seedlings are stretching for light, which is a common issue. You definitely shouldn't bury them just yet; give them a little more time to develop more leaves. Once they have a couple more sets of true leaves, you can consider adding more soil. This will help support them better!

Thanks for the advice! I’ll keep an eye on them and wait for more leaves before I do anything.

I feel you! Leggy seedlings can be frustrating. If you didn’t use a grow light, that’s likely why they’ve grown tall and spindly. If possible, provide them with a light source now to help them get strong. And like others said, wait for additional leaves before topping them up with more soil. Good luck!
