Is My Kiwi Plant Still Alive After the Winter?

I bought a Kiwi plant last year and it thrived, reaching about 4 feet tall. I repotted it in August 2024, but unfortunately, I neglected it during the winter, and it went through a few hard frosts. I've since moved it into the greenhouse and removed the visibly dead parts, but I'm not seeing any signs of new growth or buds. Could it be dead? I'm located in Winchester, UK. Thanks for any help! ?

I think you might be jumping the gun on calling it dead! I've had a similar experience with my Kiwi - after some winter neglect, it took ages to wake up in spring. Just make sure it’s in the right conditions now and give it some time. Sometimes they start showing life again when you least expect it!

It sounds like your Kiwi might still be hanging in there! They can sometimes take a bit longer to show signs of life, especially after some frost damage. I’d recommend keeping a close eye on the base and see if any new buds start appearing there. It could surprise you! Just make sure it's in a warm spot in the greenhouse and keep the soil lightly moist but not soggy. Don’t lose hope just yet!
