Hey everyone! I'm looking for recommendations on some hardy shrubs or plants that can survive the winter months but still flower nicely. Ideally, I want something that's low maintenance. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Hebe shrubs are a fantastic option! They come in various leaf and flower colors, with different kinds blooming at different times throughout spring and summer. They usually retain their leaves in winter and just need a light trim to stay in shape. Plus, they do pretty well in poor soil conditions!
Generally, hebes are hardy for winter, but I did lose one a few years back due to a prolonged cold spell, especially since it was north-facing. However, most variants should fare just fine. Dwarf hebes are particularly good for pots! Another shrub to consider is lithadora, which I have in a pot. It trails down and boasts beautiful bright blue flowers in spring. Even though it prefers ericaceous soil, mine thrives in general potting soil. Also, don't overlook low-growing sedums and hardy succulents (often called 'hens and chicks'); they're super easy to care for and drought-resistant!

Thanks! Do they need any protection from frost during winter?
