I used to do some woodworking years ago, and I'm looking to get back into it, but this time I want to make sure I learn the right way. I'm curious if woodworking, especially carpentry, is a viable career option. Can you actually get a job in this field, or is it mostly freelance work?

A lot of folks start with small projects and gradually take on bigger ones as they improve. I'm actually aiming to build a portfolio by offering to make things for people at a lower cost than freelance rates. Just keep in mind that efficiency is key! Also, check out some experienced woodworkers on YouTube for tips—they can really help you get started. It's definitely hard work, but if you're passionate about it, you can make it work!
Considering a cabinet-making path isn't a bad idea, especially for kitchens and all. Just be aware that the initial costs for tools and machinery can be pretty steep. With the current economic situation, I'm not too sure how stable things are for cabinet makers right now.
