Should I Replace My Old Laundry Tub with Plastic or Fiberglass?

Hey everyone! I have an old laundry tub that's around 40 years old and has developed a crack. I'm considering whether to replace it with a new plastic laundry tub or if I should go for fiberglass. I remember that the original one was probably plastic since it was built back in the day. What do you think will be better for durability and longevity?

For modern tubs, acrylic is the way to go. Avoid fiberglass because it doesn’t hold up as well over time.

I recommend checking out Mustee products; they offer hard acrylic tubs that are really durable. Also, if you have a Costco nearby, they have stainless steel options that come with a faucet, which could be a great upgrade!

Acrylic is definitely better than fiberglass. It maintains its color and resists stains pretty well. Just make sure to clean it with products meant for acrylic; using abrasive cleaners like Comet can ruin it. Also, handling fiberglass can be a hassle, so acrylic is easier for installation.

I bought a plastic tub last year from Lowe’s, and it's much thicker than my old one. I’d say it should last, but I can't guarantee it'll last for 40 years. They also have some stainless steel alternatives that might catch your interest!
