I've been thinking about what kind of support to use for climbing roses and I'm curious about what others have found works best. I've seen some kits with turnbuckles, but they feel a bit too industrial for my taste. On the other hand, I like the idea of being able to tighten the wire if it slips. Are turnbuckles the way to go, or would a simple eye and steel wire do the trick instead?

I think turnbuckles are a solid choice! Once your climbing rose fills in, you won't really see them, and they save you from having to constantly rewire everything as it grows. They help keep everything secure without much hassle.
I've used turnbuckles and wire as well, and honestly, they’re a much better long-term investment than going with flimsy trellises. If you want your climbing roses to stay full and bushy at the bottom, be sure to prune them regularly and maybe consider some staking for support when they're still small!
Thanks for the tips! I wasn't planning on a trellis, just looking to keep them thick and healthy as they grow.

That's a great point! By the time your roses are in full bloom, the foliage will cover the turnbuckles nicely.
