I'm looking to create a beautiful piece for my mom using a large block of wood. I want to etch the names of all her grandkids onto it, but since my handwriting is really poor, wood-burning and carving aren't viable options for me. I do have a CRICUT machine that can print designs, but I'd prefer a more permanent solution. Unfortunately, I don't have access to a CNC machine or laser cutter. Any suggestions?

If you're steady enough, you could use your CRICUT to create a stencil. Just etch over the stencil with your wood burner. This way, you don’t have to count on your handwriting skills. Just be sure to practice regulating the pressure—gouging can definitely be an issue if you press too hard!

Yeah, I've noticed that too. I always end up making it worse when I try to fix it. Maybe I just need more practice!
