I'm a new homeowner tackling various projects around the house. Currently, I'm working on repainting my bathroom ceiling, which has suffered from moisture issues thanks to an old vent/light combo. Yesterday, I made the mistake of buying a replacement at Lowe's without measuring it first, and of course, it was too small. When I tried to find the right size elsewhere, I ran into a brick wall; it seems like the dimensions I need just don't exist in any store. I'm looking for a vent/light with housing measuring 5.75 inches high, 8.5 inches wide, and 8.75 inches long. Is it really possible that this size isn't available? I've checked a couple of hardware stores, and everything is either smaller or larger. If the solution ends up being to get a larger one, could I just trim some drywall? I'm hesitant about cutting into my tiled shower ceiling if I can avoid it. Here's a link to the photo of what I'm dealing with: https://imgur.com/a/qIE6vAF

I couldn't access the photo you shared. Is there a part number that might help identify the fixture? It's unusual to have a light/fan directly above the shower, though—usually, they're placed elsewhere in the room.
That light seems quite large for a shower area. Have you considered using flat LED lights instead? If you opt for a bigger one, maybe you could install it without cutting the tile—just putting it above it might work, right? Just an idea!
Looks like quite the DIY challenge! You really should consider swapping out that fixture for one that's better suited for the shower. It sounds like true shower fixtures are designed differently!
Just to clarify, the fan/motor fits into that housing; I had removed it beforehand when I took the picture.

Sorry about that! Here’s an updated link to the photo: https://imgur.com/a/qIE6vAF
