Looking for Insights on Sungold Power Inverter Charger

Hey everyone! I have a 3.5kW off-grid system using Renogy 550-watt bifacial panels and a homemade ground mount. I'm currently running a camper and charging an EV, powered by a Zendure Superbase V 6500 battery/inverter/charger setup. I'm planning to upgrade my system for better EV charging, with future plans to grid-tie and add four RV spots, potentially increasing my solar array to 18 panels (9.9kW).

I'm considering the Sungold Power 15000W 48V split phase inverter charger, but I can't find definitive specs for the charge controller. Specifically, I'm curious about the max voltage and amperage it can handle to properly arrange my solar panels in series or parallel. Also, I can't tell if the charger features an MPPT. Has anyone used this inverter before or have suggestions for alternatives? I'd like to keep my Zendure for some uses to charge via the inverter's DC outputs.

I spent a lot of time digging for info on this too, and it seems that the Sungold inverter doesn’t seem to feature any direct PV input anymore. I found that their original MPPT charge controller had a very limited voltage range of 40-100V, but now the installation manual suggests that the solar charger has been removed since May 2023. It looks like you're expected to use a separate MPPT charge controller connected to it instead, and that the inverter mainly relies on grid power for its AC charger. Just my two cents; I would be cautious given the mixed information and hype around this.

Thanks for clarifying that! I saw a manual with a "PV Input" label but wasn’t sure if it was accurate. I may end up looking at other options like the EG4 for more reliability.

You’re right, it lacks a built-in solar charger. It's primarily an inverter/charger similar to the Victron Multiplus2 or Quattro. You’ll need a separate solar charge controller (SCC) for connecting your panels, which complicates things a bit.

Got it, thanks! The manual schematic showed that "PV Input" label, so I thought it might have changed recently. Definitely makes me question how reputable the company is.
