I'm trying to add some windows to a shed built with 24" on-center framing from the 1940s. The big box stores only have off-the-shelf vinyl windows that need a rough opening of 23 1/2 to 24 inches, which doesn't fit my needs. I've spotted some aluminum shed windows on Amazon, but I'd prefer decent vinyl ones since it's going to be a chicken coop and we get harsh winters here. Does anyone have any suggestions for finding the right windows without a lot of reframing? If all else fails, I might just add another stud and create a proper rough opening, but I'd like to avoid that if possible.

Check out shedwindowsandmore.com; they might have options that suit your needs better than the local stores.
No matter what, you'll probably have to frame out the window to fit it properly, unless you find a perfect match. But if you can find ones that are sized for a 22.5-inch rough opening, it would just mean adding a couple of cross pieces instead of doing more extensive work.
Custom windows could be an option if you're okay with not having them operable. But just to note, be careful about how you frame them out; it's key to getting it right in the long run!
You could keep searching for narrower windows that fit your framing or just take out one stud. Removing a stud is pretty quick, and you might find it gives you the dimensions you need!

Yeah, if it's just about putting in those cross pieces, that might be faster. But I was hoping to avoid messing with the studs too much.
