How Can I Remove Lime Wash from My Brick Fireplace?

Asked By B3n_Random123 On

My husband and I just bought this house, and we've discovered that the previous owners lime washed the brick fireplace, making it a bright white color. I'm wondering if there's a way to remove some or all of the lime wash to reveal the natural textures and colors of the brick underneath. Any tips or techniques that could help?

It sounds like it might actually be painted instead of lime washed. If you could share some pictures, I could help you figure it out better!

What led you to think it's lime washed and not just painted? Sometimes it's tricky to tell. You might want to check if you have extra paint from the previous owners in case they did some touch-ups with that instead.

Yeah, I don't really know. We have some extra paint in the garage and our house's front is lime washed, so I just assumed the same was done inside!
