Hey everyone! I have narrow windows in my bedroom that currently have Venetian blinds, which I really like for their ability to light up the room. However, since I work night shifts, I need a darker environment to sleep during the day. In my previous place, I had blackout blinds, but this bedroom is smaller. My wife doesn't work nights, so I want to keep the Venetian blinds for when she's up. I already have a set of blackout curtains, but I think I need something that offers a little more darkness. I'm thinking about installing a blackout roll-down shade between the window and the Venetian blinds. That way, I can use the shade to block out light when I'm sleeping and pull it up when I want natural light. Does anyone know if this is possible? Also, any recommendations for brands that offer near 100% blackout effects without costing a fortune would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

If you're looking for a way to add blackout shades without sacrificing the look of your existing blinds, consider portable blackout curtains with suction cups. They can fit nicely between the window and the blinds and offer a decent blackout effect. We use J-hook curtain holders so we can pull them to the side easily when we want sunlight. Just a thought, but make sure it fits your aesthetic preferences!

Yeah, I get that! Aesthetic is definitely important, especially in the bedroom. You might want to look for some stylish alternatives or even make your own blackout shades that match your decor.
