I have some extra exterior wall insulation left over from our renovation, and my basement tenant has been complaining about noise coming from the laundry room, which shares a wall with their family room. I'm considering using that exterior insulation to soundproof the interior wall. Is there any issue with using insulation meant for exterior walls in this way? Thanks in advance!

I think you could be okay using exterior wall insulation, but it might not be the best fit for soundproofing. My cousin used recycled denim insulation for soundproofing and really liked how it worked. Check it out if you're looking for effective soundproofing options!
Could you share more about what type of "exterior wall insulation" you have? It would help to know its specs before you decide to use it for soundproofing.
Sure! It's Comfortbatt R14, designed for 2x4 wood studs. Think it would work?

Thanks for the tip! I'll look into that denim insulation.
