How Do I Properly Plant Raspberry Canes in My Garden?

Hey everyone, I'm a beginner gardener and planning to plant some raspberries. I noticed that they usually come in bundles—like I saw Glen Ample with six canes. Quick question: Do I need to space each cane 50cm apart, or can I plant them closer together? I'm trying to figure out how many to buy since I want to try a few varieties, but I don't have a ton of space. Thanks for any tips!

You should plant each cane about 50cm apart. Just keep in mind that different raspberry varieties have different pruning needs—like summer vs. autumn fruiting types. Also, don’t be surprised if your six canes turn into twenty next year and a hundred the year after; they spread really well!

Thank you that's super helpful!

Yes, you definitely need to separate each cane to give them space to grow. They’ll spread out quite a bit!

Thank you!

Check out Blackmoor Nursery for good varieties. Autumn varieties are great; you just need to cut them down in winter.
