Hey everyone! I recently got a bit carried away and planted a ton of wildflower seeds—like, 10,000 of them—after grabbing some Cheap $2 boxes from the dollar store. I started with a little bit indoors in an egg carton, but the majority just got scattered all over my property without much planning. I didn't expect anything to sprout, but now I've got seedlings popping up everywhere! I'm thrilled, but I'm a bit overwhelmed. The flowers are overcrowded, and I'm not sure how to proceed. Should I just let nature take its course, or do I need to thin them out? How do I go about choosing which plants to keep? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

You're in the fun phase! By randomly spreading seeds, you're observing which plants thrive where. I did the same thing and found it really helped me learn about my yard. Just let the chaos happen and enjoy the garden you’ve created!
I’m actually planning to plant wildflowers too! As for mowing, be cautious. You can create paths, but it’s best to wait until autumn to do any heavy mowing. Harvest seeds beforehand to ensure more blooms next year. It’s great to think about native plants, too, as they’ll thrive better in your area!
Thanks! I’d love to avoid invasive species, so I'll definitely look into native options!
Don't worry too much! Most wildflowers will sort themselves out naturally. Just make sure to water them if it gets dry, and pull any weeds you see. Everything should be fine overall! Remember, many wildflower mixes contain both annuals and perennials, so you'll have blooms for years to come!
Exactly! Just let them grow wild, and they'll take care of themselves. Enjoy the beauty they bring!

That sounds like a great approach! I can’t wait to see what grows.
