Should I Upgrade to the M18 Fuel Circular Saw?

As a new homeowner getting into woodworking, I've been using my M18 non-Fuel 7 1/4 circular saw for various DIY projects. Initially, I bought it in a rush to handle some 2x4s and 2x6s that were cluttering my garage. Now that I'm more familiar with Milwaukee tools, I've noticed the Fuel version is available for $149 while my non-Fuel saw was $98. I'm wondering if it's worth it to upgrade to the Fuel model and sell my non-Fuel saw, or if the non-Fuel will still meet my woodworking needs, such as cutting 3/4" plywood and 2x4s and 2x6s. Additionally, what types of blades should I consider if I decide to keep the non-Fuel saw?

In my experience, the difference between the Fuel and non-Fuel versions in circular saws is pretty noticeable. If you're aiming for more precision and power for your projects, the Fuel would likely be worth it. Just make sure you're also using a decent battery to get the best performance out of either saw!

Thanks for the insight! It sounds like the Fuel might make a big difference for my projects.

Definitely consider the Fuel! Many users have found it significantly more powerful compared to the non-Fuel version. It's great as a primary saw and could be a solid upgrade if you plan to do more serious woodworking. Plus, keeping your old saw as a backup isn’t a bad idea.
