Is Adding Insulation to My Walls the Best Move for Energy Savings?

I live in a 1305 sq ft house in North Florida built around 1945, and my electricity bill is quite high, averaging about 1700 kWh per month. My HVAC system is 8 years old and regularly serviced, plus I installed energy-efficient windows in 2015. Currently, there's around 8 inches of blown cellulose in the attic but none in the walls. I did put batt insulation in the exterior wall during a kitchen remodel because of some damaged drywall. I'm planning to tackle these improvements myself, as I'm pretty handy. I'm considering doing a drill and fill to add insulation to the rest of my exterior walls and possibly adding leftover insulation to the attic as well. I feel like focusing on the walls first might give me the most noticeable difference. Am I on the right track with this plan?

It definitely sounds like focusing on the walls is a smart move for you. Insulating those exterior walls will help keep the heat out during the summer and the cold in during winter. Also, don’t forget about proper attic venting—it’s super important too!

I’d recommend getting an energy audit if you haven't already! Many local utilities offer these for free. They can help identify areas where you’re losing energy, like drafty spots. Sealing those up is crucial for insulation effectiveness.
