How Can I Soundproof My Room for Late Night Calls?

Hey everyone! My roommate mentioned that he can hear me talking on voice chat pretty clearly at night, even with earplugs. I've been trying to keep my voice down, but he says it still bleeds through the wall. I'm using headphones after midnight, and while he doesn't hear my keyboard, it's just my voice that's the problem. I'm in a rental house, so I can't make structural changes to the walls. Just a note, we have wooden floors, and my roommate is really sensitive to sound—he can even hear me walking around! What are some effective ways to soundproof our shared wall?

Have you thought about where sound might be passing through? It could be coming through any outlets in the wall. One simple idea is to hang up a heavy curtain on that wall. You can use command hooks to avoid damaging anything too. Might help dampen the sound a bit!

Yeah, I’ve heard curtains can work wonders, especially if they’re thick. Might be an easy fix!

Or, you know, just get a little quieter when you're gaming! Just for the peace of your roommate. Can't hurt to keep it down a tad right?

I found this sound absorption panel that worked way better than regular curtains! Check it out: [Link](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07W7XQ8V7?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_1). It made a huge difference for me, and it might help your situation too!

Consider getting a white noise machine! It can really help mask the sound of your voice, especially at night. It's a great option if your roommate is sensitive to even quiet sounds.
