My friend just became a homeowner in New Jersey and while she was cleaning up the backyard, she discovered a strange grill-like drain. Is it common to have such a drain on a private property? Any insights into why it might be there would be really helpful!

Yeah, it could be a storm drain as well, but without a pic, it's hard to say for sure. Another thing to consider is if it’s a downspout extension from her house or possibly from a neighbor's property. If she can share a pic, that might help clarify things!
