I recently purchased a house that I'm completely renovating, and I've got about 35 feet of 3-inch copper piping that I think could work great as a flag pole. However, I'm concerned about a few things. We live on top of a hill where there's not much wind protection, so I'm worried that the pole might bend over time. Will the copper be strong enough for this? Is there a way to sleeve it to make it more durable?

I don't think the copper will just bend in half over time, but without any kind of reinforcement, it could buckle under pressure if you make it too tall. I'd be cautious about the height you choose.
