Hey everyone! I've got this old table saw I found secondhand, and I'm debating whether a miter saw would suit my needs better. I'm not a huge woodworker, but I do use the saw occasionally for different projects. Most of the time, I just cut boards to length with an angle cut every now and then. The main thing I see the table saw doing that the miter saw can't is making long slot cuts, but I think I could handle that with a router. Can anyone share reasons why I should keep the table saw? It'd be great to save some space in my workshop if I really don't need it!

They're like apples and oranges! You can perform some of the cuts you would do on a miter saw with a table saw, but personally, I'd rather not. Plus, there are cuts that only a table saw can handle. Think about the types of projects you want to tackle.
You can always create a setup where you can use both! Get a piece of wood to mount the miter saw on top of your table saw. It helps save space while keeping both tools handy. Plus, it’s a cool DIY project!
You’ll push more through a table saw. A miter saw is handy when it's needed, but otherwise, they're just sitting there gathering dust. If you're planning on doing more projects, I'd consider keeping the table saw.
Both tools serve different purposes. If I had to choose, I'd say a table saw is way more versatile than a miter saw. If you only need to cut to length and do occasional miter cuts, you could probably get by with the miter saw, but keep in mind the table saw can handle more tasks overall.
