I'm curious about the differences between the M18 and M12 stubby impact wrenches. The M18 is a newer model with higher voltage, but on the website, it lists the M12 as having higher takeaway torque, at 550 ft-lbs compared to the M18's 250 ft-lbs. Since I work on wheels all day, I need to know which one is stronger, especially since some wheels are often over-torqued. Any insights on which tool I should go for?

It really comes down to what you're working on. The M12 is lighter and great for daily tasks, making it easier to handle. However, for bigger jobs, the M12 might struggle a bit, and you'll notice the weight difference with the M18. If you really want to stick with one tool, I’d go for the M18 high torque for those tougher situations, but I personally prefer the M12 stubby for regular use.
Agreed, the M12 is definitely user-friendly for extended use.
The M12 is actually a generation ahead of the M18 compact. If you're not averse to M12 batteries, I'd suggest going with the new M12 stubby or even the M18 mid torque. The M12 definitely holds its own for most jobs without being overly bulky.
Yeah, that makes sense. I've found the M12 to be more manageable for daily use since it's lighter.
For sure! Unless you're dealing with really high torque situations, the M12 should get the job done.

That's solid advice! I think I'll stick with the M12 for now.
