I'm curious if it's feasible to install laminate or vinyl flooring without any prior experience. My situation is that my parents want new flooring, and while my dad has all the necessary tools, he can't physically do the installation. If someone helps with the cutting, could I manage to lay the flooring without making a mess of it?

I've done this a couple of times on my own, and it's definitely manageable! Just keep in mind it might take you longer than you expect, and you'll probably make a few mistakes, but fixing them is usually straightforward. If your dad can offer some guidance, that'll be really helpful!
It can be really easy once you get the hang of it, but be prepared for the tricky parts, like cutting around door jams and other obstacles. It might be worth practicing on a small area first to get familiar with the techniques before tackling the whole space!
Good idea! Practicing a little will definitely build my confidence.
Absolutely! Laying down vinyl plank flooring is pretty easy, especially for beginners. Just make sure the floor's level before you start—trust me, I learned that the hard way! Take your time with the installation and you'll do fine.

Thanks for the tips! I think with a bit of practice and guidance, I could make it work.
