I'm helping my 80-year-old father find a lightweight, battery-operated drill that he can easily carry around his farm for various maintenance tasks, both indoors and outdoors. He's mentioned that previous drills he tried didn't have enough power, so I'm looking for something that packs a punch. I've got the M18 hammer drill, but I think it's a bit too heavy for him. Initially, I thought about the Milwaukee M12 fuel drill, but it seems that Lowe's doesn't stock Milwaukee products.
I know Dewalt drills are available there, but many of them appear to be larger than the compact Milwaukee M12 series. Are there any Dewalt options that are compact yet powerful? I know their atomic impact drivers are quite small, but I'm particularly looking for a drill/impact that includes all the torque settings typical in conventional drills. Thanks for any pointers!

Have you thought about getting the standard M18 drill without the hammer feature? It should be easier for your dad to handle. As for Dewalt, their atomic line has some great options that are compact and still provide the torque settings you're looking for. Check out the DCD794B model; it might fit his needs well!
The Dewalt atomic 20V drill is a solid choice! The atomic line is specifically designed to be more compact, so it could be exactly what your father needs.

Thanks for the tip! I didn't realize the standard M18 would be lighter. I’ll definitely check out the Dewalt DCD794B too!
