I recently got evicted from my long-term rental in zone 8b, and I've dedicated years to my garden. I'm hoping to save as many of my perennials as I can before my move-out date on August 1st. Should I start digging them up and repotting them now, or would it be better to wait until closer to the moving date? I realize that timing might vary based on the type of plant, but I'm looking for some general advice since it will be mid-summer. Thanks in advance!

I'd recommend potting them up now rather than waiting for the heat of summer to kick in. This way, they'll have some time to acclimate to their new pots before you move, and it will make the process much easier overall.
Great idea to start potting now! If you’re worried about the landlord noticing empty spots, just make sure to clean up the area so it looks untouched when you leave. It'll prevent any hassles down the line.
Honestly, digging them up now is a good plan. It gives you the chance to fill in the holes you leave behind and keep things looking nice for your landlord. Plus, moving them earlier can help them establish in the pots before the stress of moving day.
