Is My New Cut Off Tool Supposed to Be Always at Max Speed?

I recently got a DCS438 3" cut off tool, and I noticed a couple of quirks. The LED doesn't work, but that wasn't a big deal to me at first. Now I'm realizing that the trigger isn't variable speed—it's always running at maximum speed. Is this how it's supposed to work? Also, since I've left it unopened on my shelf for a few months, can I still exchange it for a different one?

I just checked mine, and yeah, the DCS438 isn't variable speed—it runs at full speed all the time. Totally normal behavior!

Good to know, thanks! ?

As for the LED light, it doesn’t have a separate button like some other models. It just lights up when you’re using it. It's a solid tool overall though, very handy for cutting tasks!
