I recently noticed that my kitchen might be looking a bit dated, and I'd love some advice on how to spruce it up. We have two large skylights in the eating area and two smaller tube skylights in the cooking section, but the bigger ones are leaking, so we'll be replacing those soon. I'm also planning to remove the popcorn ceiling. I've already upgraded to a touchless Moen faucet, but here's what I'm considering for the next steps: new skylights, removing the popcorn ceiling, enhancing cabinet hardware (though the wood underneath is discolored), possibly getting a new refrigerator (the current white one clashes with stainless steel), replacing the old microwave, updating the under cabinet lighting, adding glass above the sink, and putting in a new backsplash. What other DIY improvements would you recommend?

If I were you, I'd think about newer cabinet doors. They're a great way to give your kitchen a facelift without a complete overhaul. Also, changing out the flooring could really freshen things up. Just as a heads up, if you’re looking at a bigger remodel, it’s a good idea to do it once and invest in things that will last.
You might also consider removing the over-the-range microwave and putting in an exhaust hood instead. It opens up the look and creates more space. You can either go for a microwave drawer or a drop-in model somewhere else. It’s a neat trick that can really modernize your kitchen!
Honestly, your kitchen has some nice features, but it does have a bit of a 90s vibe. The cabinets are nice wood, but those curved tops definitely scream outdated. You could replace just the cabinet doors and paint the boxes yourself for a fresh look. I'd suggest sticking with neutral colors, maybe off-white or gray, and definitely use Sherwin Williams Urethane Trim Enamel for painting. Also, consider replacing those countertops; I'm looking at dolomite myself, which has a marble aesthetic without the softness. The backsplash is an easy fix as well—old tile can really date a space.
Thanks for the tips! I definitely see what you're saying about the curved tops. I'm thinking about a polish for them. What about Corian for the white countertops? Is that still in style or outdated? And I’m totally on board with replacing the backsplash—any suggestions?
For backsplashes, subway tiles are super versatile and always in style! You could mix in some textured tiles for a modern touch.
Honestly, the cabinets already look pretty good. A simple paint job on the walls and new cabinet pulls can give you a fresh look without much effort. Sometimes less is more!

That sounds like a great idea! I have ductwork behind it, so that might work. Is that 'over the range' style going out of fashion?
