What to Do if There’s No Electrical Box for My Bathroom Light Fixture?

I recently removed an old light fixture in my bathroom, but I discovered there's no electrical box to install the new one. I'm feeling a bit anxious about dealing with electricity, so I'm looking for some guidance. Do I need to add an electrical box myself or should I hire an electrician? Also, the holes from the previous installation don't line up with my new fixture. Any advice would be appreciated!

You can definitely install a retrofit box, which is quite straightforward to do. Just so you know, what you have now isn't really up to code. I've noticed similar setups in homes I renovate, but it's better to be safe. If you're not comfortable working with electrical stuff, just call in an electrician to handle it. It’s not worth the risk!
