Is My Kitchen Backsplash Tile an Easy DIY Fix or a Scam?

I've got a tile in my kitchen backsplash that's missing grout, leaving a visible gap around it. The tile is still secure, but I'm unsure what to do. I reached out to a handyman, and he said I need to redo the entire backsplash because the initial grout job was done badly. Is this really necessary for just one tile? I'm not experienced with DIY projects, and if I had a dad to ask, I would... but mine's a scam artist!

Honestly, it sounds like your handyman wants to take the long route. You really only need a quick fix—just patch the grout in the gap, and it'll hold for now. If the tile's not at risk, gluing it and getting some pre-mixed grout should work perfectly! You can find everything you need for around $10, and it’s a fun little project!

Thanks so much! $10 is definitely doable.

You could easily handle this! If the tile isn't falling out, check out some YouTube videos on DIY grouting. It might seem daunting, but for just one tile, it's pretty straightforward. Once you learn to do small fixes like this, you'll save cash for bigger issues later on, like when your water heater fails or you need an electrician for stray sparks! ?
