How Can I Easily Install a Shut-Off Valve for My Tub?

I'm currently renovating my bathroom and need to install a shut-off valve for the tub, since it doesn't have one. I'd like to isolate just the tub and sink for now, as the sink already has shut-offs. The plumber can't come until next week, and I wonder if it's possible to cut the copper lines, add a simple shut-off valve, and let the plumber reconnect everything later. Any advice on the best way to do this?

You might want to check if the tub has a shut-off valve located with screws on the valve itself. It's crucial to know if the water needs to be off for the work, especially if you're pulling out the tub. Just be careful when you're planning to do the demo!

Haha, right? Just trying to play it safe and not mess things up while removing the tub.
